Refund Policy — Choux & C

Effective date: April 2026

At Choux & C, we take great pride in the quality of our handcrafted products. Because we sell perishable food items, our refund policy reflects both our commitment to quality and the nature of fresh and frozen goods.

1. General Approach

Alberta's Consumer Protection Act does not require retailers to accept returns on perishable food items simply because a customer changes their mind. However, we will always make it right if there is a genuine quality issue with your order.

2. Quality Issues — We Will Refund or Replace

You are entitled to a refund, replacement, or store credit if:

  • Your product arrives damaged or in unsatisfactory condition

  • Your order is incorrect (wrong items, missing items)

  • A product is found to be defective or not as described on our website

  • Your order is not delivered within 30 days of the stated delivery date (for online purchases over $50 — your right under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act)

To request a refund or replacement, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your order at choux.and.c@gmail.com with your order number and a description (or photo) of the issue. Given the perishable nature of our products, we cannot process claims submitted after this window.

3. Frozen -Prêt à Cuire Products

Frozen products that have been delivered in good condition and in an intact sealed package are not eligible for return, as we cannot guarantee the cold chain once the package leaves our possession. If a frozen product arrives thawed or damaged, please contact us within 24 hours for a full replacement or refund.

4. No Returns for Change of Mind

Because our products are perishable food items, we are unable to accept returns for change of mind, incorrect flavour selection, or dislike of taste. We encourage you to contact us before ordering if you have any questions about our products.

5. Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup or delivery date. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the pickup or delivery date may not be eligible for a refund, as production will already have begun.

For online purchases over $50, you retain your right under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act to cancel within 7 days if we fail to properly disclose the total amount owed before checkout.

6. Custom & Special Orders

Custom orders (e.g. event platters, gift boxes, special requests) require a 50% non-refundable deposit at time of booking. The balance is due upon pickup or delivery. Cancellation of a custom order within 72 hours of the delivery date will result in forfeiture of the full payment, as ingredients and labour will have been committed.

7. How Refunds Are Processed

Approved refunds will be issued to your original payment method within 5–10 business days. Alternatively, we may offer store credit at our discretion.

8. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act. If you believe you have experienced an unfair practice, you may file a complaint with Service Alberta's Consumer Investigations Unit.
